ANNOUNCEMENT (3/12/2020): Following directives from the University of Maine and recommendations from the State CDC and Governor’s Office, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is cancelling Beethoven and Haydn on April 5th due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 and the safety of our patrons and performers.

  • We would be grateful if you would consider letting us convert your ticket purchase to a donation as we face increasingly uncertain times with additional concert and event cancellations. We are also happy to issue a voucher for a future performance. Please let us know of your request via e-mail to development@bangorsymphony.org
  • To request a refund for this performance, please e-mail cca@maine.edu or call 1-800-622-TIXX

We celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday with his Piano Concerto No. 4 and bring to life a groundbreaking mass by Haydn.

What’s Interesting About This Concert

  • It’s an embarrassment of riches: Beethoven, Haydn, two choirs, five soloists
  • Italian pianist Roberto Plano has been hailed for his “sparkling clarity”, a perfect fit for Beethoven
  • Haydn’s Mass In Time of War is known for its dramatic use of timpani

The Program

  • Ludwig van Beethoven | Piano Concerto No. 4, Roberto Plano, piano
  • Franz Josef Haydn | Mass In Time of War, Hob. XXII:9

Concert Length: Approx. 1 hour, 50 minutes, including intermission
