Young People’s Concerts

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra invites students in grades three through eight to attend this year’s annual Young People’s Concerts at the Collins Center for the Arts. This season’s concerts are Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.

Lucas Richman, Music Director and Conductor for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, has made it his mission to instill in young children the awareness of music as an integral part of their lives.  The theme chosen for this season’s Young People’s Concerts is “Let’s Tell a Story”. Each musical selection will show how composers through history have told stories through the unique arrangements of musical notes, gestures and instrumentation.

  • Felix Mendelssohn | Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream
  • Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky | Selections from Romeo and Juliet
  • Dmitri Shostakovich | Allegro from Piano Concerto No. 2 in F major
    • Featuring the Winner of the Maine High School Concerto Competition: Michael Bostock, piano
