Winner Announced for the 45th Annual Maine High School Concerto Competition

BANGOR – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the finalists of the 45th Annual Maine High School Concerto Competition. This year’s competition showcased extraordinary young musicians who presented outstanding performances.

The musicians of the competition showed remarkable talent. First place was claimed by Ronan Sands, who performed the first movement of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor. As the first place winner, he has the honor of playing this piece live on stage with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra at the Young People’s Concerts on Monday, May 11th. Elizabeth Ruggiero on violin and Ryker Olson on viola won second and third place, respectively. In addition, Thomas Bailey, Carson Dunn, and Calista Post received honorable mentions for their excellent violin performances.

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra congratulates all finalists for their exceptional talent and dedication to music. The skillfulness displayed by all participants of this year’s competition reflects the promising future of these accomplished musicians.
