Bangor Symphony Orchestra Presents The 45th Annual Maine High School Concerto Competition
Six finalists compete for the first place prize: to perform with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
BANGOR, Maine – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is delighted to present the 45th Annual
Maine High School Concerto Competition. With a long, rich history developing musical talent with Maine
youth, the BSO showcases the top high school musicians from around the state.
On Saturday, February 21st, at 2:00 pm in Minsky Recital Hall at the University of Maine in Orono, six
finalists will perform their chosen concerto with piano accompaniment. After thoughtful deliberation,
judges will name a winner. The recital is free and open to the public – join us to experience the musical
talents of the next generation as it flourishes on stage.
The winner of the competition will be awarded the Annas-Cupp Award, which carries with it a cash prize
of $750, and will perform live with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra during their annual Young People’s
Concerts on May 11, 2026 at 10:00 am and 11:45 am at the Collins Center for the Arts. The 10:00 am
concert is already sold out, but tickets are still available for the 11:45 am show. For tickets, please follow
