ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS:
Position: Marketing Coordinator
Date: November 2025
The Bangor Symphony Orchestra seeks a friendly and outgoing Marketing Coordinator who is knowledgeable about both orchestral music and marketing with excellent communication skills and who is excited about the opportunity to coordinate the marketing efforts of the BSO and its affiliated programs. The inherent and foremost responsibilities of the Marketing Coordinator are to develop and implement the marketing calendar, publicity engagements, and public relations initiatives of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. The Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director, and works with the Board of Directors’ Marketing Committee.
Duties include the ability to authentically advertise the orchestra through planning and implementing marketing strategies and budgets and ticket sales campaigns, coordinating advertising and publicity, public relations activities and promotional events, building media relationships, producing newsletters, reviewing and timely implementation of press releases, overseeing season brochure production, coordinating program book information, as well as creating and tracking ticket vouchers, annual appeals, and corporate proposals. Candidate must be comfortable with phone calls and outreach, and will be asked to assist in fundraising events and their production as needed.
Qualified candidates will have knowledge of the orchestral repertoire and have exceptional organizational and communication skills, as well as being self-guided. The Marketing Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Development Director, Assistant Director of Education and Outreach, and Board Marketing Committee, as well as the marketing team Sutherland Weston and an in-house graphic designer, in coordinating communications in support of all aspects of the organization. The Executive Director may assign additional duties as needed.
Knowledge of Google workspace, Microsoft, Adobe InDesign, Canva, Mailchimp, and experience with CRM databases are a plus. Some training available.
The position of Marketing Coordinator is a part-time, in-person position with occasional remote options upon approval by the Executive Director, which will mostly work out of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra offices located in downtown Bangor. Approximately fifteen hours per week, starting rate $18 – $20/hr with occasional evening and weekend hours as required for meetings, performances and events. The Marketing Coordinator may request one complementary ticket to any BSO event for self-use only if not required to work the event.
