“Meet the String Family” Free, Family Friendly Concert

BANGOR, Maine – For immediate release – At 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra presents the second concert in its new Chamber Music Series, “Meet the String Family,” at the Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness Center, 16 Central St. in Bangor. Geared towards families and young musicians, musicians from the Bangor Symphony Orchestra will perform a 45-minute chamber music concert which will introduce the members of the string family, which will be followed by a short reception with refreshments. The concert is free and open to the public. Support for this series is provided in part by Bangor Savings Bank and individual donors.

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra strives to provide enticing, diverse musical experiences that fosters a love of classical music for all. “Meet the String Family” will be a fun, interactive concert that aims to inspire future musicians and concert goers. Audience members are encouraged to bring the whole family and arrive early to try an instrument at the “Instrument Petting Zoo.”

Officials from the BSO know firsthand how much music can shape lives. Music helps develop motor skills, strengthens memory and attention, and allows for beautiful, emotional expression. Music has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, reduce pain, improve mood and emotional well-being, and enhance sleep. The aim of this concert series is to introduce music to new listeners and create community connections through music and conversation.
