Bangor, ME – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s 120th season continues on Sunday, November 22, 2015 with a 3 p.m. performance at the Collins Center for the Arts. The program titled “Beethoven & Friends” will be led by BSO Music Director and Conductor Lucas Richman and features works by Haydn, Schubert, and Beethoven.
The concert will open with Haydn’s rarely performed Il Ritorno di Tobia Overture, followed by Schubert’s famous Symphony No. 8, “Unfinished.” The Schubert was performed on the opening concert of the BSO’s very first season in 1896, and the work itself is marking the 150th anniversary of its belated premiere.
The program concludes with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, featuring violinist Elena Urioste. Recently named a BBC New Generation Artist, Ms. Urioste first came to national prominence as a winner of the Sphinx Competition, and her recent debut performances with the renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra were praised by three separate critics for their “hypnotic delicacy,” “expressive poise,” and “lyrical sensitivity.”

The night before the concert, lovers of classical music and beer will be delighted to attend the launch of Maestro’s Marzen, a special edition lager brewed by Geaghan Brothers Brewing to commemorate the BSO’s 120th anniversary. Elena Urioste will be in attendance, and tickets are just $10, including one pour, with proceeds benefiting the symphony.
