Lucas Richman, Music Director and Conductor for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, has made it his mission to instill in young children the awareness of music as an integral part of their lives. This year’s concert theme is “Belonging”. The symphony orchestra is made up of many musicians, each of whom plays an important part in bringing a composer’s music to life. Maestro Richman will guide us through a program that demonstrates how each of those individual parts belong together, like the threads of a larger musical fabric.

This 50 minute education and music program is supplemented with an instructional packet for students and teachers providing information about the orchestra and the selections that will be featured. Concerts are open to public, private, and homeschooled children.

Tickets are $3 per person, for both students and chaperones. Tickets are first come, first serve.

About our guests:

Jen Shepard is an actor, improviser, Artistic Director of Penobscot Theatre Company, and co-founder of ImprovAcadia.  As an advocate for the arts and fan of the BSO, she is thrilled to join them for the Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.  She’s appeared on the PTC Stage many times. Her favorite projects include Becoming, Dr. Ruth, Beauty and the Beast, and, most recently, directing Almost, Maine.
