Kingfield Pops - Saturday, June 26, 2010

So... who goes to the symphony anyway? You might be surprised. We're not talking about just any symphony. We're talking about the Kingfield POPS. Your symphony. Your made-right-here-in-Franklin County outdoor summer concert and arts festival.
Eight years ago, a few dreamers came up with this crazy idea of bringing a symphony orchestra to perform in a field in Kingfield. And look at us now! The POPS has become part of our summer tradition. Generations of families get together one weekend each summer to enjoy the magic of music, mountains and moonlight. And people from all over come to share it with us -- and to shop in our stores, eat in our restaurants, and stay in our inns and hotels.
The June 26, 2010 concert program features the Bangor Symphony Orchestra with guest soloist Suzanne Nance; Gene Nichols on musical saw; fine fiddling, blended folk and modern traditions and original music from the Gawler Family, Boardman Family and PIneland Fiddlers. Also, a special dance performance by Molly Gawler. Steel drums with Western Mountain Trash Can Band. Throughout the day on June 26, at the Festival of the Arts, artists display their work while local musicians play non-stop music.
Concert tickets are on sale now at Tranten’s in Kingfield and Farmington, and Camden National Bank in Kingfield, Farmington, Stratton, Rangeley and Phillips. Tickets are also available online. Festival of the Arts is free.
