The Bangor Symphony Orchestra has been providing live music for the people of Bangor since 1896 and hasn't missed a season since. From Beethoven to Tchaikovsky, old and new, the Bangor Symphony has something for everyone this season. The Bangor Symphony begins its 114th season in October 2009 with its classical series of music, holiday favorites and summer POPS programs.

2010 Concerto Competition Set for February
November 16, 2009
Open to all Maine high school students, the
competition offers each year's winners the chance
of a lifetime - to perform with the full Bangor
Symphony Orchestra for thousands of students and
teachers at the Youth Concerts in May.
This
year's Maine High School Concerto Competition is
set for Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1:00p.m.,
Minsky Recital Hall, School of Performing Arts,
University of Maine. Snow date is February 21....
Bangor Symphony Welcomes Tai Murray as Guest Artist

Bangor -- Violinist Tai
Murray will be replacing Stefan Jackiw for the
Bangor Symphony Orchestra's performance of
Beethoven Violin Concerto at the Collins Center
for the Arts, Sunday November 8th at 3pm.
Due to illness, Jackiw will be unable to
perform.
Executive Director David Whitehill
says the Symphony will certainly invite Jackiw
back to Bangor in the future. "It's
